Chery Group achieves the "Dual 500" milestone Friday 01 August 2025 The first Chinese brand automaker to export 5000,000 vehicles and the fastest-rising automaker in the Fortune Global 500. 4 minutes On July 29, with the official announcement of the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, Chery Group marked a historic milestone. Achieving revenues of $59.6939 billion, it secured the 233rd rank, jumping 152 places from last year to become the fastest-rising automaker in the Fortune Global 500 annual rankings.Just a month ago, Chery Group set another record: cumulative exports surpassed 5 million vehicles, making it the first Chinese brand automaker to reach this milestone. The "Dual 500" milestone achievement marks a significant milestone in Chery's globalization strategy, propelling the company into a new era of accelerated global brand expansion.Chery's overseas journey from zero to 5 million vehicle exports began in 2001, coinciding with China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) and marking the first year of Chery sedan launches. At that year's Auto China in Beijing, Middle Eastern merchants were instantly captivated by Chery's "FULWIN" sedan. They went to Wuhu, met Chairman Yin Tongyue during his meeting, and finalized an export order for the first batch of 10 vehicles after a 10-minute street-side discussion, signaling their initial foray into overseas markets. That year, China's annual automobile exports stood at a mere 26,000 units. Little did anyone anticipate that Chery's small step would herald the beginning of bulk exports for Chinese sedans.Chery's vehicles for the initial phase of its 'going global' strategy were embraced by overseas markets beyond all expectations. Soon, orders grew—100 units, 500 units, 1,000 units... Chery has since firmly adopted a dual-track strategy for both international and domestic markets, methodically expanding its overseas presence step by step. In 2024, Chery Group exported 1.14 million vehicles, with one "Chery-made" vehicle delivered to overseas customers every 27 seconds on average. This secures its position as China's top passenger car exporter for 22 consecutive years. In the first half of this year, the group's exports reached 550,000 vehicles, accounting for 44% of total sales, and continued to lead China's automotive exports. On average, one out of every five Chinese cars exported is produced by Chery. Particularly in the European market, Chery sold over 30,000 vehicles in the first half, achieving a nearly elevenfold year-on-year increase; in June alone, sales increased 6.5 times year-on-year, with new energy vehicles accounting for 45%.Throughout over 20 years of global expansion, Chery has recognized that beyond merely 'going global' with products, it is more vital to 'integrate in'—becoming a contributor to local communities by fostering tax revenue and employment, and embedding itself into the hearts of overseas users and local residents. Chery has introduced the concept of "In somewhere, for somewhere" to deliver differentiated green products and services for local users. Concurrently, it is strengthening collaboration with local OEMs and parts suppliers to advance brand localization, as well as coordinated development in manufacturing, R&D, and supply chain. In 2024, Chery partnered with EV MOTORS, a long-established Spanish automaker, to revitalize the Spanish EBRO brand, which boasts over 70 years of history. This initiative also generated substantial employment opportunities, boosting local economic development and tax revenue growth. Chery has also collaborated with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to implement public welfare projects and has been consecutively listed on the Fortune China ESG Impact List.Chery's "going global" strategy continues to deepen, while genuine integration fosters heartfelt connections, driving the brand to new heights globally. The rise in the Fortune Global 500 ranking is a natural culmination of this progress. In 2024, Chery Group debuted on the Fortune Global 500 as a 'dark horse', ranking 385th. This year, Chery not only retained its position but surged over 100 spots to enter the top tier of the list, marking a remarkable leap from newcomer to frontrunner. In the ranking of 2025 Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders released by Google and Kantar in June this year, Chery secured its place for the eighth consecutive year, maintaining the top position in the automotive category. Simultaneously, Chery has made strategic advancements in artificial intelligence, pioneering commercial applications with its cutting-edge AiMOGA humanoid robot. The automaker has also established itself as China's first automaker to conduct comprehensive safety testing across six extreme global environments - heat, cold, dryness, humidity, high-speed conditions, and rough terrain. At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show and CHERY International Business Conference, TIGGO8 CSH and TIGGO9 CSH successfully passed a series of extreme safety challenges, including the "Seven-Vehicle Stack Test," "100% Full Frontal Collision," and "High-Speed Spiral Rollover." Meanwhile, in Jakarta's extreme humidity battery test, Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) "Guardian Battery" emerged with zero abnormalities after being submerged in seawater for 53 hours and 51 minutes. During Mexico's battery scrape test, TIGGO7 CSH replicated dangerous high-altitude underbody impacts by striking a spherical barrier at 30 km/h with 30mm of overlap depth. These extreme trials pay homage to automotive safety heritage while powerfully embodying Chery's core philosophies: "Safety for Family" and its vision to "Let everyone enjoy five-star protection."To date, Chery Group has served over 17 million global customers, including more than 5 million overseas users, covering 120 countries and regions worldwide. Upon reaching the 'Dual 500' milestone, Chery Group, as a pioneering force, will build a world-class brand through enhanced quality and dynamic momentum, aiming to become an innovation-driven, globally trusted leader in the intelligent mobility ecosystem.
