Global deliveries surge 80.5 per cent year-on-year, with electrified vehicle sales topping 100,000 units in a single month

Chery Group has continued its remarkable global growth trajectory, posting record May sales and further strengthening its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive manufacturers.

The Group delivered 247,823 vehicles globally during May, an increase of 20.5 per cent compared with the same month last year. International deliveries reached a record 181,871 units, up 80.5 per cent year-on-year and marking the third consecutive month of record-breaking export performance.

New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales also continued their rapid rise, exceeding 100,000 units in a single month for the second consecutive time, reaching 100,304 deliveries in May – a 58.8 per cent increase on the previous year.

The result highlights the growing global demand for Chery’s expanding portfolio of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles, technologies that are playing an increasingly important role in markets such as Australia.

Locally, Chery delivered 4401 units, an increase of 84% on the previous year.

Fastest Path Yet to One Million Sales

From January to May, Chery Group delivered more than 1.1 million vehicles globally, reaching the one-million-unit milestone faster than at any point in the company’s history.

International deliveries climbed 69.5 per cent to 752,755 units during the first five months of the year, which is a new record for a Chinese manufacturer while NEV sales reached 361,761 units, up 25.7 per cent year-on-year.

The strong performance has helped grow Chery’s global customer base to more than 19.6 million owners worldwide, including over 6.5 million customers outside China.

European Growth Accelerates

Chery’s expansion across Europe continues to gather pace, demonstrating the brand’s ability to compete successfully in some of the world’s most demanding automotive markets.

The company now operates across 24 European countries and recorded more than 107,000 vehicle deliveries across the region between January and April, representing growth of 230 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Demand for electrified vehicles has been particularly strong, with European NEV deliveries increasing by 570 per cent.

The success in Europe reflects Chery’s long-term commitment to meeting global standards for safety, quality, sustainability and technology – factors that continue to shape the vehicles developed for markets including Australia.

Electrification Growth Continues

Chery’s new-energy vehicle business has entered a new phase of scale, with monthly NEV deliveries now consistently exceeding 100,000 units.

The company continues to invest heavily in battery technology, advanced materials and sustainable manufacturing processes, supporting its broader ambition to deliver more efficient, safer and lower-emission mobility solutions.

As Chery expands its global footprint and accelerates the rollout of new electrified products, the Group’s record May result provides further evidence of the scale, investment and technological capability underpinning its future growth.

For Australian customers, it reinforces the strength of a manufacturer that is rapidly emerging as a major global automotive force.
