Chery invites Australia to ‘Name a Joey’, celebrating major milestone in partnership with Koala Conservation Australia Monday 23 March 2026 Chery Australia contributes over $100k in first quarter of partnership. 2 minutes Automotive brand, Chery Australia today announced an exciting milestone in the first quarter of its partnership with the Koala Conservation Australia (KCA), a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and protection of wild koalas. Over $100k has been contributed; supported by $10 from every vehicle sold over the last three months. Chery also loaned the KCA a Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid vehicle to help with the transport of key supplies, food and medicine for sick or injured koalas as part of the collaboration. One such initiative set to benefit from the contribution is the KCA’s Wild Koala Breeding Program, of which seven healthy joeys were welcomed in its first season. To celebrate the success of season one of the program, Chery invites the public to help name one of the male joeys. A poll will be put to the public on Chery Australia’s Instagram today, Friday 20 March, with the joey’s name set to be announced Friday, 3 April.The potential names are inspired by Australia’s native flora and include: Jarrah: Derived from Eucalyptus marginata, Jarrah is a slow growing symbol of resilience reaching up to 50 meters in height, and 3.5 meters in circumference.Banksia: Inspired by Australia’s iconic wildflowers, Banksia’s are a genus of around 170 species of flowering plants in the Proteaceae family. They symbolise resilience and adaptability.Tucker: Named after the Tuckeroo Tree (Cupaniopsis anacardioides), Tucker represents strength and hardiness, with these trees thriving in less-than-ideal conditions.Hakea: A member of the Protea family, Hakea plants are valued for their hardiness and adaptability, thriving in a wide range of environments.Waratah: Representing a genus of five species - most notably the Telopea speciosissima – and recognised as the New South Wales state emblem, Waratah is a symbol of strength and beauty.Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer of Chery Australia, said “We are proud to support the protection and conservation of koalas through our partnership with the Koala Conservation Australia.
